We'll leave Basel for Lake Constance and Mainau, an island of unparalleled beauty. There’s so much to admire and discover on Mainau. This verdant, floral paradise has become one of the

most famous and most frequented tourist destinations in Germany.

We'll have lunch on the island. Enjoy some free time exploring the area on your own.

Bulbous plants kick off the spring on the island. Snowdrops, crocuses, daffodils, squills, and tulips carpet the magnificent gardens from March to May, followed by 12,000 rose bushes that decorate the island from the end of May until the first frost. In the fall, dahlias become the center of attention. Approximately 12,000 bulbous plants representing 250 varieties bloom along the island's south side at the end of the summer and into the fall. The palm tree greenhouse—containing hemp palms and exotic date trees—and the colorful butterfly house provide a South Seas atmosphere all year round.

After our day, we’ll return on board the ship in Breisach.
